California American Water is supplying water system resources to support Cal Fire crews responding to the Timber Fire. The utility has made hydrants available to fill water trucks, support dust abatement at helicopter bases, and provide water for fire-retardant mixing. California American Water serves approximately 720,000 people and has about 300 employees.

Hydrants Support Fire Crews

Firefighting crews can use California American Water hydrants to fill water trucks. The utility is also supporting dust abatement at helicopter bases and supplying water used in the mixing of fire retardant.

Spencer Vartanian, Director of Operations at California American Water, said:

“California American Water is proud to support the emergency response efforts underway to protect lives, homes, and natural resources. This is an important example of how reliable water infrastructure provides a direct community benefit beyond everyday service, helping regional partners respond quickly and effectively when public safety is at risk.”

Continued Operational Coordination

California American Water will continue coordinating with public safety agencies during the response and plans to provide additional operational support where appropriate.

Spencer Vartanian, Director of Operations at California American Water, said:

“Whether through hydrant filling stations for water trucks or operational support at response sites, our team is prepared to help provide the resources needed to protect the communities we serve.”

Utility Resources During Response
