Cyware has partnered with WaterISAC to provide real-time, AI-powered threat intelligence to water and wastewater utilities nationwide. The agreement is designed to improve information sharing and response to cyber threats affecting critical water infrastructure. WaterISAC already reaches more than 20,000 small utilities through its National Rural Water Association partnership, while the U.S. has more than 50,000 water utilities. Cyware’s platform will add intelligence collection, enrichment and response capabilities beyond manual processes for WaterISAC members.

Threat Intelligence for Utilities

The partnership gives WaterISAC members access to validated threat data intended to help members identify threats faster and collaborate more effectively.

Tom Stockmeyer, Managing Director, Government and Critical Infrastructure at Cyware, said:

“Adversaries targeting Operational Technology (OT) now move at machine speed, and WaterISAC has chosen Cyware to ensure that water utility critical infrastructure has access to real-time threat intelligence they can act on. We look forward to working with WaterISAC to distribute validated threat data across the community and help water utilities take action in real time. Collective defense works best when a detected threat or vulnerability reaches every participating organization, regardless of size or cyber maturity, and each one can accelerate its response to neutralize incoming threats. That is what Cyware delivers across nearly all major critical infrastructure sectors.”

Extending WaterISAC Services

WaterISAC plans to use the platform to reduce manual work in intelligence operations and provide members with more relevant threat and vulnerability information. The organization serves water and wastewater systems, bringing together utilities, security experts and government partners for sector information sharing.

Tom Dobbins, Executive Director, WaterISAC, said:

“Our partnership with the National Rural Water Association already allows us to serve over 20,000 of the water sector's smallest utilities, and adding Cyware is the natural next step. Our goal is to provide a high-quality threat intelligence platform that helps our analysts deliver more real-time insights to our members and lets us extend that directly to our larger utilities. We went through a rigorous evaluation of the platforms available, and Cyware stood out as the quality product our members need.”

Protecting Essential Services

Water systems support drinking water, wastewater sanitation and fire suppression, as well as supporting nearly every segment of the U.S. economy. By pairing WaterISAC’s sector network with Cyware’s threat intelligence platform, the partners aim to help utilities share security information more efficiently and respond to incoming threats in real time.
