DuPont XC220 Wins Sustainability Product Award
DuPont FilmTec Fortilife XC220 wins a Sustainability Product of the Year award for industrial water reuse and brine concentration.

DuPont has received a Sustainability Product of the Year award from the Business Intelligence Group for its FilmTec™ Fortilife™ XC220 reverse osmosis element. The membrane is designed to concentrate brine to up to 220 g/L NaCl while increasing water recovery for industrial reuse, resource recovery, and Zero Liquid Discharge and Minimal Liquid Discharge operations. Launched in April 2026, the element is aimed at applications that have traditionally relied on energy-intensive thermal treatment. DuPont Water Solutions technologies are helping to purify more than 50 million gallons of water every minute in 112 countries.
Higher Brine Concentration
The high-pressure reverse osmosis element is intended to extend membrane treatment into higher concentration ranges, allowing industrial operators to reduce liquid waste volumes sent to final downstream treatment. DuPont positions the product for selective salt recovery and lower treatment costs and energy use in selected MLD and ZLD applications.
Karla Butler, Vice President and General Manager at DuPont Water Solutions, said:
“This recognition reflects DuPont's commitment to developing innovative technologies that help customers address some of the world's most pressing water challenges. The FilmTec™ Fortilife™ XC220 element can enable customers to recover more water, reduce liquid waste, and unlock new opportunities for resource recovery while improving overall process efficiency.”
Industrial Water Applications
The XC220 element forms part of DuPont’s expanded FilmTec™ Fortilife™ portfolio. The company developed it for industrial users seeking to improve water circularity and operating efficiency in mining, petrochemical, automobile, textile, power generation, lithium extraction, and advanced manufacturing.
DuPont Water Solutions supplies membranes, resins, and complete systems for municipal water treatment, seawater desalination, industrial water users, and the microelectronics industry. Its portfolio also supports electricity, lithium, and green hydrogen production.
Recognition For Water Reuse
The Business Intelligence Group named the element for its contribution to advancing industrial water reuse, resource recovery, and more sustainable ZLD and MLD operations. By enabling brine concentrations of up to 220 g/L NaCl, the technology allows operators to maximize water recovery, unlock new opportunities for selective salt recovery, and reduce liquid waste volumes for final downstream treatment.
