Kodiak Chemical has acquired Eco Solution Distributing, its ninth acquisition since 2023, adding five locations and a portfolio of water treatment and environmental chemicals. The deal opens new markets for Kodiak in municipal and industrial water treatment and power generation, and lets it further penetrate the railroad industry. Eco Solution Distributing’s products join Kodiak’s platform of more than 800 products. The Cincinnati-based specialty chemicals supplier also gains mineral processing agents, freeze conditioning and de-icing products, dust control solutions, and bulk commodity chemicals.

Portfolio Adds Five Locations

The acquisition extends Kodiak’s product range for industrial manufacturers seeking supply across multiple product lines. The deal was self-funded. Kodiak operates through 15 sites in the United States and a manufacturing plant in Mackay, Australia.

Kevin Dickey, CEO at Kodiak, said:

“Because Kodiak is self-reliant, we can execute efficiently on opportunities we know will be accretive to earnings, capturing value immediately post-closing. This value translates to Kodiak but also to our customers, who are searching for single source suppliers to address their needs across multiple product lines.”

Water Markets Expand

Eco Solution Distributing gives Kodiak an entry into the water treatment industry through its water treatment and environmental chemicals portfolio. The company identified municipal and industrial water treatment among the new markets opened by the acquisition, alongside power generation.

Kevin Dickey, CEO at Kodiak, said:

“Safety, reliability, and performance are paramount to our customers, and every decision we make revolves around delivering superior products and services to help them fulfill their objectives. Our people have walked the floors, run the lines, and dealt with the same pressures our customers face every day. We don't have to guess what matters in the field, because we've been there. This unique first-hand knowledge shapes every product we formulate and every acquisition we make.”

Commercial Leadership Appointment

Joshua Herzing joins Kodiak as Chief Commercial Officer as part of the acquisition. He brings more than 25 years of experience in mining, water treatment, power generation, and commercial team leadership.

Kodiak said Herzing’s operational experience includes recommending value-added solutions intended to support customers’ long-term goals.

Broader Industrial Supply

With Eco Solution Distributing, Kodiak adds water treatment products to a wider chemicals offering serving manufacturers. The acquisition also strengthens its presence in railroad applications while adding products for mineral processing, de-icing, dust control, and bulk chemical supply.
