Missouri American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation announced that the Foundation has awarded nearly $40,000 in State Strategic Impact grants to 12 organizations that provide support to the communities Missouri American Water serves. Nearly $13,000 will fund hydration stations for five recipients, while a total of $27,000 will support seven organizations with a range of missions, from assisting veterans to expanding access to affordable health care and home ownership. The grants are part of the 2026 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program. Missouri American Water, the largest regulated water utility in the state, provides water and wastewater services to approximately 1.7 million people.

Hydration Station Funding

Five organizations will receive grants to help purchase hydration stations through the Hydration Station Grant Program: Lydia’s House, Lawson Community Foundation, Mexico Area Family YMCA, Circle of Concern Food Pantry and JADASA.

The program is intended to expand access to safe hydration in public spaces and reduce the number of plastic bottles entering landfills and bodies of water.

Support for Seven Organizations

Seven organizations will share $27,000 in additional funding: Police Foundation of Hallsville, Duane H. Tolen Sr. Foundation, Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County, Family Care Health Centers, Truman Medical Center Charitable Foundation, H.E.R.O.E.S Care and LevelUp Kids.

Rich Svindland, President of Missouri American Water, said:

“Supporting strong, healthy communities is central to our mission. With the support of the American Water Charitable Foundation, we are proud to invest in organizations that advance meaningful solutions and help keep our communities flowing.”

Foundation Grant Program

The State Strategic Impact grants focus on projects and initiatives across American Water’s national footprint under three giving pillars: Water, People and Communities. The foundation has invested more than $25 million through grants and matching gifts since 2012, according to the release.

Carrie Williams, President, American Water Charitable Foundation, said:

“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to partner with organizations that align with Missouri American Water and share a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the communities it serves.”
