Rika Supplies 86 Coolant Monitors for Dubai Data Center
Liquid cooling commissioning at a Dubai hyperscale cloud center used 86 pre-calibrated Rika Sensor monitoring units.

Rika Sensor supplied 86 pre-calibrated coolant monitoring units for a Dubai hyperscale cloud center project with 2,000 high-density cabinets. The units were factory-configured with communication addresses and basic alarm thresholds for a cold plate liquid cooling system using propylene glycol-water coolant. Installation took less than 15 minutes per monitoring point, with no field calibration required. The project places coolant monitoring into the commissioning process before routine operations begin.
Earlier Coolant Monitoring
High-density GPU infrastructure is increasing the need for operating data during commissioning, including testing and handover. The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, ASHRAE and NEMA jointly released the AI Data Center Energy Performance Framework, which recommends earlier attention to monitoring and control systems.
Rika Sensor’s liquid cooling sensors can monitor pH, electrical conductivity, ORP and turbidity. Its monitoring units can connect with data center infrastructure through RS485, Ethernet and 4-20 mA communications.
Dubai Commissioning Setup
Monitoring data in the Dubai project was collected through RS485 and sent by Ethernet to a temporary management platform during commissioning. The wall-mounted units reduced interference with pipe pressure testing and avoided additional welding work.
After handover, system access was transferred to the customer’s O&M team while historical monitoring data was retained. This allowed monitoring to continue from commissioning into routine operations.
Bavaria Deployment Experience
At a Tier IV data center in Bavaria, Rika Sensor installed 24 monitoring units across 12 racks and connected them to an existing BMS through 4-20 mA signals. Two monitoring points showed abnormal readings during commissioning, and an engineering investigation found that the sensors were too close to chemical injection ports. The points were relocated to improve measurement representativeness.
Michael, GM at Rika Sensor, said:
“Faster commissioning does not mean reducing the necessary validation steps. It means completing more of the preparation in advance. From factory calibration and configuration to on-site deployment and system integration, each stage needs to align with the commissioning schedule.”
Factory Preparation Supports Delivery
Rika Sensor’s approach includes factory calibration, device configuration, communication setup and application-specific planning before equipment reaches a data center. Monitoring solutions can be configured according to different cooling architectures, monitoring-point layouts and system integration requirements.
