FloLogic has introduced its Remote I/O module, allowing its leak detection and automatic water shutoff platform to communicate wirelessly with third-party water devices, plumbing controls, alarm systems and home automation platforms. The module replaces a previous setup that required a FloLogic Legacy Control Panel and a wired connection to the FloLogic system for external-device integration. It can be installed near a connected device anywhere on a property, including larger homes, commercial buildings, multifamily properties and campuses. FloLogic is a subsidiary of Bradford White Corporation.

Wireless Device Connections

The Remote I/O module uses configurable inputs and outputs to connect the FloLogic platform with equipment including irrigation systems, water softeners, pool and fountain autofill systems, well pumps, hot water recirculation pumps, security systems, home automation platforms and third-party water sensors.

Configurable inputs can authorize extended water use for designated devices to prevent nuisance shutoffs during normal operation. Outputs can send FloLogic system status to external equipment and controllers, including disabling hot water recirculation during a shutoff or when a property is unoccupied.

Douglass Phillips, general manager of FloLogic, said:

“Remote I/O demonstrates FloLogic's commitment to creating the industry's most comprehensive ecosystem for water protection and water management. By removing hardwired limitations, Remote I/O gives installers and property owners unprecedented flexibility to connect FloLogic with the devices and systems associated with water use throughout a property.”

Installation Across Properties

The wireless design lets installers locate the module where it is practical rather than where control wiring is available. The company said this can simplify installations where controlled equipment is located far from the FloLogic valve and local control module.

When connected to hot water recirculation equipment, the module can disable the pump during a water shutoff or vacancy, protecting the pump and supporting greater water-heating energy efficiency.

Expanded System Controls

The new module extends FloLogic’s connected plumbing system into broader property monitoring and control installations, with water-using devices able to exchange status and control signals with the leak detection platform.

Douglass Phillips, general manager of FloLogic, said:

“As plumbing becomes increasingly connected with broader property management systems, Remote I/O allows FloLogic to serve as the conduit to various aspects of water damage prevention and system controls. The result is a smarter, more capable system that provides greater value to property owners while making integration easier for installers.”
