EarthEcho International has opened direct online sales of Water Challenge test kits ahead of World Water Monitoring Day on September 18. The organization is also welcoming 60 Water Challenge Ambassadors, ages 13 to 22, for its 2026 youth cohort. The program equips individuals, classrooms, and communities to test local surface water quality, record results, and organize local environmental actions. World Water Monitoring Day marks the anniversary of the US Clean Water Act, enacted to restore and protect US water resources.

Testing Tools for Communities

EarthEcho is making water monitoring more accessible through an affordable test kit, free planning resources, and a partner network. Its Water Challenge test kits are now available for direct purchase online, allowing users to begin testing local water quality.

The organization’s Water Challenge resources include online materials for planning community events. The guides cover stormwater stewardship, cleanups, and restoration of riparian zones and habitats.

Youth Water Literacy Program

The 60 ambassadors will spend the next year building water literacy in their communities. EarthEcho’s ambassador pathway covers threats to global water resources, water quality testing, translating results into actions, and peer engagement through events, cleanups, and educational outreach.

Norah Mendoza, Minorities in Shark Sciences - Water Challenge partner, said:

“EarthEcho's Water Challenge has become an important part of how we connect our students with the waterways in their own communities. More than just teaching students how to test water, the Water Challenge gives them the tools to understand the water around them and helps them see why protecting it matters.”

Data for Local Action

Participants can log test results and environmental actions in EarthEcho’s online database, where users can access trends over time. The system is intended to turn local water data into teaching tools for classrooms and communities.
