ABB Launches Water Network Platform in India
ABB launches the AquaMaster+ water network platform in India, where nearly 2,000 AquaMaster flowmeters already operate in 15 cities across eight states.

ABB has launched AquaMaster+™, a digital platform for Indian water utilities that combines hardware, software and cloud-based tools to monitor, analyze and manage distribution networks. The platform is available with ABB’s AquaMaster4™ flowmeters or as standalone software for integration with existing systems. Nearly 2,000 AquaMaster electromagnetic flowmeters are already operating in 15 cities across eight Indian states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha and Delhi. Bengaluru alone operates about 500 units for flow measurement across its water network.
Fleet And Device Visibility
AquaMaster+ provides fleet-level views with GIS mapping, alongside device-level data on flow and pressure changes, diagnostics and remote configuration. The system stores device and generic event logs, enabling utilities to compare flow-rate and pressure parameters and identify anomalies earlier.
Remote configuration and management are designed to shorten response times and reduce travel costs, while real-time monitoring supports earlier detection of network issues. Utilities can also add virtual flowmeters to model and compare operating scenarios.
Raghu Kumar NV, Global Product Manager, ABB’s Measurement & Analytics division, said:
“With pressure mounting on water resources globally, a great deal of work is done to prevent losses in the distribution system and to help save water through more efficient resource management. AquaMaster+ will enable this work by connecting water utilities to crucial flow measurement insights from their AquaMaster4 or other devices, helping the water sector outrun – leaner and cleaner.”
Flow Data For Network Operations
ABB’s AquaMaster flowmeters measure water flow in real time, tracking the quantities passing through a network. The company states that the meters measure flow velocities below 0.1 m/s and can detect leaks faster than many conventional solutions.
AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms became the world’s first electromagnetic flowmeter with bidirectional connectivity in 2022. ABB’s Automation business supplies automation, electrification and digitalization technology for industries including water.
Expanding Digital Water Management
The India launch gives utilities using AquaMaster4 devices, as well as operators with other installed systems, a route to combine network data in one platform. Its navigation is designed to require minimal training and give operators faster access to operational information.
