Jeff Szur Turns Air Into a Lifeline for Disaster Victims
Altitude Water's Disaster Relief Trailer makes drinking water from the air, with solar power, internet and cell service for storm-hit communities.

When hurricanes strike, communities often lose more than homes and businesses. They lose access to clean drinking water, electricity, internet connectivity, and the ability to communicate with loved ones and first responders.
For nearly two decades, Jeff Szur, Founder and CEO of Altitude Water, has been working on a solution.

Today, his most impactful innovation may be a one-of-a-kind Disaster Relief Trailer that can produce drinking water directly from the air while simultaneously providing solar-powered electricity, internet access, cell service, and emergency communications to communities cut off by disaster.
As hurricane recovery efforts continue across vulnerable regions, Szur's technology is attracting attention for a simple reason: it addresses some of the most immediate needs survivors face in the critical hours and days after a storm.
"We're focused on water independence," says Szur. "When infrastructure goes down, people still need clean water, power, and a way to connect. That's exactly what this platform was designed to provide."
Unlike traditional emergency response systems that depend on outside supply chains, the trailer is designed to operate independently. Using advanced Atmospheric Water Generation technology, it captures moisture from the atmosphere and converts it into potable drinking water. Integrated solar systems provide power, while onboard communications capabilities help reconnect impacted communities.
The concept has already been tested in real-world disaster conditions.
Following Hurricane Helene in 2024, Szur deployed the Disaster Relief Trailer to support communities in Florida and North Carolina, delivering water, electricity, and Wi-Fi access where essential infrastructure had been compromised.

For Szur, however, the technology represents more than emergency response. It is part of a larger mission that began in 2008 when he developed his first ozone purification system in Trinidad.
Since then, he has worked to expand access to clean water around the world, helping support projects in Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Maui, and other regions facing water scarcity and infrastructure challenges. His vision has remained consistent: creating sustainable, decentralized access to one of humanity's most essential resources.
Under his leadership, Altitude Water has evolved from consumer atmospheric water systems into commercial, industrial, and military-grade solutions capable of generating water virtually anywhere.

His work has earned recognition from organizations and media outlets focused on sustainability, innovation, emergency preparedness, and climate resilience. Altitude Water was named Sustainable Water Company of the Year by Prestige Awards, while the company's Trident-12 atmospheric water generator earned recognition among Food & Beverage Magazine's top products.
Szur's innovations continue to expand beyond disaster response. In partnership with RM Design Pro, Altitude Water is helping develop what is believed to be the first yacht capable of producing its own drinking water from atmospheric moisture, further advancing the concept of self-sustaining water independence.
Yet despite the global applications, disaster preparedness remains among the most urgent.
For coastal states like Florida, where hurricanes regularly threaten critical infrastructure, technologies that can rapidly restore access to water, power, and communications may become increasingly important tools in emergency response.
That is why many view Szur's Disaster Relief Trailer not merely as a technological achievement, but as a humanitarian one.
At a time when communities are searching for innovative ways to strengthen resilience against natural disasters, Jeff Szur is proving that one of the most valuable resources during a crisis may already be all around us, in the air itself.
